Today’s aluminum sheet and rod producers must achieve good surface quality, efficient productivity and low conversion costs. Having served this industry for many years, Houghton has the unique ability to provide chemical, technical and engineering solutions for your hot and cold rolling aluminum processes on a worldwide basis.

Houghton is your one-stop shop for aluminum flat sheet rolling lubricants, aluminum rod rolling lubricants, and the multiple fluids and lubricants that supplement these processes, including mould-release lubes, compatible hydraulic fluids, cleaners and post-lubricants.  Following are Houghton’s rolling process products for the aluminum industry.

Aluminum Hot Rolling

Tandemol®
Aluminum hot rolling of flat sheet is a highly sensitive metalworking process, requiring experienced technical support and carefully designed lubricants. The aluminum rolling industry relies on Houghton for expert process consultation, efficient product implementation, ongoing techno-chemical support and quality products for all types of hot mill configurations – from single-stand to multi-stand operations. Houghton’s Tandemol® is the most prevalent hot rolling lubricant in use around the world. Tandemol products are widely known for their superior product and performance characteristics.

NOA™
Among the various Houghton Tandemol series available for hot rolling, the newest and most cutting-edge fluid is the NOA™ (Non Oleic Acid) technology. This innovative chemistry marks an industry breakthrough, for the first time offering an aluminum hot rolling lubricant that is not oleic based, but maintains and surpasses the performance characteristics of the best conventional rolling lubricant technologies available today. This means that you can achieve both cost savings and similar or better performance as compared to oleic-based chemistry without the negative impact of metallic soap generation.

Aluminum Cold-rolling

Cindol®
Houghton supplies high-quality aluminum cold rolling additives (Cindol® CR series, VX series, BA series, etc.), many of them composed of the conventional chemistry used throughout the aluminum cold rolling industry. Most of these are Kosher-approved and comply with FDA CFR 178.3910.

Cindolube™
Houghton’s newest aluminum cold rolling chemistry is the proprietary Cindolube™ technology.

Aluminum Post Lubricant

Coilshield™
Aluminum mills producing can beverage sheet have experienced many benefits in using Houghton Coilshield™ series products. Coilshield 2003 and 6461 offer low product maintenance and lower lubricant costs, and have the potential to improve overall production efficiencies when used in a synergistic manner with subsequent can making fluids.

Aluminum Rod Rolling

Rodshield™ and Rolkleen™
Houghton’s Rodshield™ and Rolkleen family of hot and cold rolling lubricants for aluminum rod production offer lower operating cost and improved productivity for continuous casting and in-line rod rolling systems.

NOA™
Among the various Houghton Rodshield series available for hot rolling, the newest and most cutting-edge fluid is the NOA™ (Non Oleic Acid) technology. This innovative chemistry marks an industry breakthrough, offering an aluminum hot rolling rod lubricant that is not oleic based, but maintains and surpasses the performance characteristics of the best conventional rolling lubricant technologies available today. This allows customers to achieve both cost savings and similar or better performance as compared to oleic-based chemistry, without the negative impact of metallic soap generation.
