Director, Standards and Technology

Seeking a Director, Standards and Technology to assume responsibility for managing projects, and activities related to promoting industry standards in compliance with ANSI essential requirements. 


  • Directs the maintenance of current industry standards for tempers and alloys; promotes and disseminates standards to member companies. 
  • Serves as staff executive and chief policy advisor for the Electrical Divisions. 
  • Prepares, and/or oversees, the writing and editing of technical and application articles and publications. 
  • Represents the Aluminum industry as liaison to other standards development organizations. 
  • Supports Vice President, Standards and Technology by responding to technical and general queries from customers, government agencies, the media and the public concerning aluminum standards and applications. 
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as appropriate or as requested. 


  • Undergraduate degree (BS) in Engineering, Metallurgy or related discipline. MS or MBA degree preferred. 
  • 12-15 years’ experience in technical management of production processes and applications in the aluminum or other metals industry. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. 
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in aluminum products, applications and standards in North America and other regions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and make presentations to domestic and international industry and standards bodies, customer and allied groups, the Board of Directors and other staff committees, as required.
