Intended to help companies that produce and/or melt aluminum sows, this publication addresses casting, inspection, drying and melting procedures. It also focuses on preventing equipment damage and injuries associated with explosions caused by wet or contaminated sows charged into molten metal in melting furnaces.  The Guidelines offer information and suggestions, derived from industry experience, for plants to consider in their safety programs.
