Committee Highlights

Government and International Affairs

Actions taken by Congress and the White House have direct impact on the domestic aluminum industry’s ability to compete in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.

As the leading voice for the industry in Washington, D.C., the Aluminum Association is successfully advancing regulatory and legislative policies –from energy and trade to recycling and climate. See our policy priorities in the Aluminum Agenda [hyperlink].

The association’s Government and International Affairs committee works to ensure policymakers understand the industry and its priorities. The committee develops relationships with key federal policymakers based on data to achieve policy outcomes in order to grow markets and maintain its license to operate.

Current membership includes: ABC Aluminum Solutions, Alcoa, Arconic, Commonwealth Rolled Products, Constellium, Hydro, Kibar Americas, New Day Aluminum, Novelis, Rio Tinto, Texarkana Aluminum and United Aluminum.

Health and Safety

The Aluminum Association, and the aluminum industry, has long made the safety and well-being of its employees a top priority. Like any manufacturing process, there are inherent risks and hazards involved with the production and fabrication of aluminum. However, the Aluminum Association believes that these hazards can be minimized or eliminated entirely by careful attention to the development, utilization, and sharing of safe handling practices for aluminum in both its solid and liquid forms.

The Health and Safety committee works to address relevant occupational health and safety concerns, as well as consumer health concerns, through research, training, and communications efforts. The committee’s work includes the development of safety and health guidance, engagement on regulatory activity, and monitoring of emerging trends in the safety and health space.

Membership in the committee is open to any Association member.
